Cyber Essentials scheme was introduced by the UK government in 2014. It wasn't very popular back then but it is now becoming a mandatory requirement for the supply chain. Almost every other tender is asking for the suppliers to have it. The scheme essentials cover the fundamental security controls for Cyber Security and if you get them in place you can protect your business against most of the most common cyber attacks.
